newsgroups please help (mac newbie)

I am very new to the mac and i want to know how to take files downloaded from usenet newsgroups (they all seem to be sitx.(some number) or bin files and i can get them to ever assemble or unzip or whatever they need to do someone please help.

you need stuffit 8 or later to open .sitx files, stuffit expander can open .bin files.

also, if theres anything, like a number or something after sitx, like file.SITX.5, rename it so it ends in .sitx.

open stuffit from inside applications folder, and Click stuffut in the upper left corner by the apple, Stuffit Expander> About Stuffit Expander. you should have v. 8, but you might not, do you have stuffit deluxe?

stuffit expander should be able to open those files.the deluxe version isnt required to open .bin files, but you need at least stuffit expander 8 to open .sitx files.
