how to reconize a serial port adapater

hey does anyone know how the imac can reconize a serial port adapter. i bought one and it doesnt take it or isnt reconized nothing happens. i downloaded the driver but it seems the driver is for pc only u guys know a driver that works with mac or adapter that works with mac so i can buy one. or where can i go on the mac to find my usb connections

What are you trying to connect to the Mac that requires a serial port?
How about a serial to USB adapter instead?

thats what i meant i have a fta sat box that i need to put a new bev. the box is has a serial connection i have the wire and the usb adapter but my computer doesnt seem to upload the programing or reconize the serial port usb adapter
