I bought a 400 Mhz G4 Sawtooth for 20 bucks as my first foray into Mac Desktops (I Switched to a MacBook a little under a year ago). Once I learned that some vid cards could be flashed to work with the PowerMacs, I dug out my old Sapphire Radeon 9600 (not Pro or SE, just 9600). However, I can't figure out from anything I've read if this card can be flashed to work in a Sawtooth G4. Does anybody here know? I did a search but couldn't find any definitive answers.

Even if flashed it is suitable for 8X and 4X AGP slots only, Digital Audio and above so no for a 2X Sawtooth. A card such as an ATI Radeon 9000 Mac Pro will be the go as it is 4X and 2X compatible.

The rule of thumb generally is 8X is backward compatible with 4X, and 4X with 2X.

Lol first rule with graphic display cards Mac version .. they ain't cheap! You can also consider a nVidia such as a GeForce in the 4X AGP range.
