Soon to own a iMac.
24" iMac.
3.06GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
4GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM.
1TB Serial ATA 7200-RPM HDD.
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GS graphics processor with 512MB of GDDR3 memory.
Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW).
Apple Wireless Keyboard
Wireless Mighty Mouse
iWork & MobleMe pre-installed.

So any comments on this system..? I chose the 3.06Ghz due to the amount video / audio processing I will be doing on the system as I produce iMini-DVD's(TM) @ ArtisticByNature , soon to be hitting stores next year!

Your comments are appreciated, thank you.

1 tip though: dont get i-work pre-installed
get it in a box ffor the same price uninstalled or if u can be bothered get it from somewhere else (amazon etc) for cheaper -- then u have a boxed copy- much better than a pre-installed copy, imo.

I believe it's what you might call ballsy! :)

I just want a system that's quick, has lots to storage and best all RAM Speed. :p

THX I will buy iWork separately. I was wondering Boxed version is better, maybe because it comes with manuals too?

I tend to think that it's better to go for the un-installed option so you can always have the original Disk/box incase anything goes wrong and you can re-install it. I don't know how it works if it's pre-installed, maybe they give you some sort of Customer ID incase you need it re-installing for some reason so you're not paying twice.
I'd look into that before you bought it, but generally speaking I think most people would go for the un-installed option.
Good luck, sounds like a pretty neat computer :)

iMac 2.8GHz vs iMac 3.06GHz

I currently have them both on my desk. The iMac 3.06GHz is noticeably faster, but has a slight problem. The classic emulation program SheepShaver does not currently work on it.
If you have no Classic needs, its the one, and the price is right.

That mac will be madly quick! Get the RAM elsewhere. It would be very nice computer.

If anything just get the basic of the basic stuff on the Tier 3 model IE the fastest CPU and Graphic Cards.

The RAM and the HDD you can probably buy for a lot cheaper else where.

I agree with the RAM but I am guessing that the HDD is not easily accessible on the iMac.
