Your Mac's Specs
15,4" MBP 2,4 GHz, 2MB RAM, 250 GB HDD (Seagate aftermarket), Leopard, Logitech V470.

Got the error burning DVD DL.

This means trouble, right (SD has had troble reading some, mostly burned or "designer", ofr example black or similar, DVD's lately).

A case for warranty repair or new SD?

MBP is in warranty, anyway, so whatever the case it'll cost niothing.
Im just curious before I start a debate with service ...
DOes that error box fault description really mean what it says?

To be honest I would just take it in and see what they think is best.

Way... way too many specs to list.
They'll replace the superdrive. Costs associated would be less than tearing it apart and repairing the drive itself. They'll probably then send it to the manufacturer of the drive.
