Im not sure if this has been covered. Im new to OS x and im having trouble with my CD-RWs. I would love to use my CD-RW like floopys but cant. The disk are new so there's no need in erasing them. I do have Toast9 but im completely clueless. Please help. By the way im a happy switcher.

If you're thinking about formatting a CDRW and using it as a large floppy disk, I have to ask why? Since OS X can multi-write to CDs (not DVD media) I don't see the advantage. CDRWs can also be erased and used over again.

Regards.

Thanks for the response. I want to use a CD-RW because I like to save artwork and images from the internet. I rather save it to a CD-RW oppose to my hardrive. Similar to a floppy disk where i can write and erase media without having to erase it every time i want to use it.

For important files like that it's important to back it up on multiple devices rather than just one place.

For one thing the CDRW can be damage or the file might become corrupt if there is a strong magnet or something near by. Same can be said about the HDD and other devices as well.

That's why it's important to have multiple copies. I also send my files to myself by e-mail as well as backing it up on the HDD itself, external HDD, thumbdrive and CD.

It may seem a little overboard but better safe than sorry.

Way... way too many specs to list.

I do not believe that CDRW's are magneto optical.

Thanks a lot for the reply. I convinced my wife to switch as well. She currently has a Dell laptop that needs to be replace. She was going to buy another Dell with Vista. She decided to go with macbook.
