Fan speed question

My MacBook's fan makes a very annoying whining sound when it runs below about 2400 rpm. However, at 2400 rpm or above it is virtually silent. So, I used SMC Fan Control to set the minimum running speed to 2400 rpm. Does anyone see any potential problems with this? I'm thinking particularly of potential damage to the fan. Thanks for the help!

Personally I would leave things like that well alone - my MacBook seems to know what it's doing with it's fans without my help.

On the other hand I doubt anything particularly drastic is likely to happen at this precise moment in time, but still.
