Stuck on a Blue Screen after Software Update-HELP NEEDED!

I had some problems with doing an software (this thread will explain-http://www.mac-forums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=119940)

Now I am stuck at a blue screen and it just sits there after rebooting it. Do i need to reinstall OSX?

If I do, will I loose everything that I had on my comp or is there a way that it gets restored?

I have all my music etc. backed up on a hard drive but there are a few other important things that I didn't back up yet. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.

Pop your Tiger DVD in and reboot holding down 'C" and see if you can Repair Disk and Rpair Permissions from there. If it is necessary to do an install suggest zero the drive and yes you would lose everything not backed up.
