Does anyone have an idea on why this error pops up EVERY time I open mail?

I get it every now and then... don't know why though.

have you clicked on 'Show Certificate'? I'd be willing to bet it was issued to mai.mac.com

You can't, the certificate was issued to that server (I'm under the assumption that mail.mac.com and mail.me.com is really just a load balanced set of servers) under a different domain name. You could report it to their support, who can fix it. But it's likely just part of the migration from .mac to .me.

I just expanded the certificate and chose "always trust". So far that has killed the pop up. We'll see.
