hey all,

I put photos on an extra drive and then import them into iPhoto from there. Nonetheless iPhoto keeps its own "iPhoto Library" on the startup disk. Since I'm running out of space, will it do anything if I delete the massive file titled "iPhoto Library"

thanks in advance

iPhoto will show no photos if you just delete its library.

There may be a way to change the location where it stores the library file.

Josh is correct -- iPhoto uses that library to be able to work. No need to import them to to an external and then into iPhoto -- double work!

If you want to move your library and access it from an external, follow these instructions: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93603 That would be your best bet.
