how/where to store login info/passwords

Just wondered how everyone keeps track of login and passwords information for all the sites and services you use?

I have a password protected word doc in my documents folder... not sure if this is the best way or not?

I use to keep this file on my portable usb drive so I can access from anywhere, but even that may not be wise?

Honestly, in my head. Safest place they can be ... until someone decides to crack my skull open.

I got too many to do that with I have various things in odd places, none are immediately human readable. We have a password vault program at work that well.. I never bloody use

I have about 15 passwords with variations that I use for everything ..... I guess I just have a good memory.

I just write them on yellow stickies and put them along an edge on my computer table. Pro: When I have a change, it's easy to make out a new sticky. Con: When I'm not near my computer table, I don't have access.

For my program keys, I make a Word file and keep it there. But there's a Mac program called LicenseKeeper http://www.outerlevel.com for $20 (covered in September Macworld, page 56) that I plan to buy for that purpose.

15 would be nice, I have more than twice that number of conflicting rules

Like I said though, with variations. So letters instead of numbers or vice versa. Or in l33t 5p34k. lol.

heh, some of our checkers catch that

oh and remember, I was an art major

I think keychain access actually stores secure notes, but never tried it myself.
