Help! Kernel Panic

why were you updating anything on the schools property, I can tell you thats not a good idea. have you tried repairing permissions? to do this, go into mac hd>applications>utilities>dik utility. open disk utility, after it loads, select the drive in a column on the left, click repair permissions, restart, get back to us.

Sounds like you have a corrupted install. The time it will take to find which file(s) are corrupted, you can reload the OS. You have learned a valuable lesson, here. When you update a system alway have it on house power.

yes, too bad you dont have the discs. but I can gguarantee that tis is not normal for a mac, so dont let it push you away, if anything, come into the light. its probably got problems cause different students check it out and mess with it not knowing what theyre doing.

I'm afraid there's no other solution than to format and reinstall...

Finding out which files got corrupted is nearly impossible, and would require some deep knowledge of the system.

A power failure during an update can be deadly to any operating system, even to OS X. A journaling file system can't help much there...

As rman said, you've learned a lesson (unfortunately the hard way): NEVER install or update an OS while running on battery power.

It's Murphy's law: If the power can go away on the wrongest moment, it will go away...
