• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

You question is confusing. Do you want to record a game that you are playing on your Mac? Do you want to record from something like a PS3 to your Mac?

The first involves screen capturing so search these forums for those two words.

The second involves some hardware so try searching this forum for the words; digitize vhs.

Search this form for the words "analog digital" or "record xbox".

well since, you asked for me to post my results. I have a PC that is about 4 years old. However, 2 years into owning it, I decided to upgrade the GFX card. Didn't really know much about hardware back then. Just picked something that looked good. Turns out I got an ATI all-in-wonder.

So, I just set everything up with that, hooked my PS3 up to my PC and it works great. There is about a half second lag between what I do with my controller to the monitor. Not a problem for now. Until I start to really get into recording footage that is.

Weird thing is, I looked on my TV and it doesn't have a video out. no idea why. it has audio output, but no composite or s-video out.

You responded to my signature which is meant to remind people to post there results to the question asked, not their past experience. ;)

Since your TV doesn't have the video out, perhaps investing in a splitter box would allow you to eliminate that 1/2 second delay by allowing you to watch the TV while letting the Mac (or PC) do the recording. That delay is a killer for some games.
