iPhoto - sizing pictures

iMac 2008 320GB
New to Mac and iPhoto I can't get to grips with printing phots. I have a 2008 iMac. I've used Picasa with a PC and this gives a large selection of options for prints. I have a number of photos with a ratio that won't allow me to get the whole of the photo in to one of the template frames. Any ideas? Is it possible to resize to fit?
