So it occurred to me that the keyboard backlight on the PowerBook and MacBook Pro, while a touted feature, is something that wouldn't necessarily be very useful for a lot of people, and in fact I never used it until very recently when I figured "Why not? It looks cool." How do you guys use this feature that the iBook/MacBook lacks?

I use it pretty often, whenever I can't see the keys hehe :)

I thought it would be really useful when I bought the Pro, but I realize that it's not.

I'm a very proficient typer, I never look at my keyboard.

when I first recieved my mbp I used the back light all the time. A week later I haven't used it since. I have wondered though, if used constantly, how long would the light last?

I use it when I have the laptop out and about, such as traveling.

At home, I have it hooked up to an external keyboard and monitor, and the monitor is so bright, it illuminates the keyboard well enough to see.

But, yes, I do find it is a helpful feature, as I'm a night owl.
