Hi,

Finally, after much waiting I have gotten my hands on a 3G 16GB Model. Whenever I am making call I can not hear anything except if I put on the speakers but if try to try to use the inbuilt speaker I can not hear anything. After a restore the problem still persits. Has anyone experienced this or is there a setting that I might have not turned on?

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

If it's never worked I suspect it's a manufacturing fault. Speaker not wired in correctly etc. I'd take it straight back.

My non 3G iPhone has from day one had an almost similar problem in that the call volume (even at full volume) is very faint and requires the loudspeaker to be on except in the quietest of rooms.............but i can live with it.

Have you used the headphone jack? This just happened to me. It thinks the headphones are still plugged in even when they're not. Try adjusting the volume control, if it shows (headphones) on the screen by the volume bar, this is the problem. Plug the headphones back in and unplug until you can hear the sound. It took me several tries but eventually this fixed the problem.

This is a common iphone issue....try inserting and pulling out the earphone jack a couple of times...Or you can take it to Apple but they will do the same thing.

Thanks for your help guys. I took it back to apple and they've replaced it. The replacement is now working as it should.

As an aside, if anyone is thinking about getting an iPhone from CARPHONE WAREHOUSE (UK users) don't get it from there. The sales people haven't got a clue. As far as they are concerned - they are only there to sell phones and nothing else. I took my iPhone there to get a replacement and they were telling me that they haven't got anyone in the store to check it out. I got really ticked off and left them my number on the premise that an iPhone specialist will contact me - that was yesterday and the phantom specialist hasn't been in touch as yet.

At any rate, I have got it all sorted out from Apple with no problems at all. Thanks for all your suggestions.

The other issue is that they NEVER have any phones instock.
