in my place of work there is a mac x-server set up as raid5 with three 1TB sata harddrives connected to an LSI raid card with cache backup battery, there is a problem that when the power is turned off the server or it is shut down- the raid then fails
(but not when just restarted)
then when booted up using the MAC OS X CD and the terminal window is open and the megaraid commands are run - it shows that the raid state = fail and that the 3 hardrives are also a fail- I currently can only resolve this situation by destroying the raid setup, then recreating it and loading a backup image of the server to the hardrives again!- what could be causing the raid to fail after a power outage? would it be possible that a faulty backup raid card battery could cause this fault?
kind regards chris
