Hi,

so i have a laptop which was stood on. The display no longer works but you can see lights behind the cracks on the screen. I connect it to an external monitor and up until the windows screen starts loading the external monitor works. Afterwards - nothing. I know this isnt a windows forum so here goes:

On my mac pro (10.5.4) i have two ethernet ports, one of which is connected to my network. Is there any way I can connect to the laptop using ethernet? I have tried and the ethernet port on my mac gets assigned an ip address 169........ (cant remember it totally). Is this self assigned or assigned by the laptop. How can i connect to the laptop. When i go to Finder > Go > Connect to Server and Browse, the laptop doesnt appear in the list.

All help greatly appreciated.
