I've used my macbooks optical drive.... once, maybe... since I got my macbook 10 months ago & am dragging around my 40g external for time machine, which isn't enough.

Just wondering if the MCE OptiBay Hard Drive replacement is as good as it seems.. anyone had any issues with excess heat, noise, vibration etc. or have a recommendation for 5400 or 7200 rmp?

and lastly, is there anyway to digitally disable a hard drive if for example, I'm in dire need to conserve battery,

Any advice much appreciated,
