Picky Mail question

I'm trying out Mail right now, having imported all of my mail from my old Thunderbird mailboxes.

In the message pane, I have my messages arranged in date descending order. When I deleted a message in Thunderbird, the focus in the message list moved to the message right after the deleted message. In Mail, the focus moves to the message right before the deleted message.

I know this is incredibly picky, but is there any way to keep the current order of the messages in the message list AND when deleting a message move the focus to the message below the deleted message?
