I recently bought a used Mirrored Door G4.

I loaded it up with 2GB of ram and a 256 video card.

it has (1) 1.25GHz processor.

I am editing with final cut pro 5 on it and am wondering what else I can do to speed/beef it up.

I saw on another posting someone say go to OWC.

When I went there it didn't show any options.

Does that mean there is nothing that can be done?

I'm kinda new to the Mac world and would appreciate any help.

Thanks,

Tom

Unfortunately the Sonnet upgrades are still expensive, and the FSB will always be a bottleneck :( Even a used G5 would still trump a modded G4.

at 1.24 Ghz, that is a pretty fast G4 chip

The only way to go much faster than that is to get a G5 or even better, an Intel mac

YIKES! The double processor for mine is $600...

Looks like a used G5 might be a better way to go...

For that much $$$ I would try and find a used G5 Tower. It will be faster than even that Dual 1.8 Sonnet CPU in your MDD anyway. Try for a Dual G5 if you can afford it.
