Creating DVD of slide show

I have used iDVD to create a slideshow but results are very disappointing - cannot make pictures fill the screen (as they do in iMAC use)- plus quality of DVD pictures on TV significantly inferior to the same pictures on TV when displayed via computer.

Am I doing something wrong, or is there some better software I should be using for this task ?
