Deleted the usr folder...

All,

Like the previous post indicated...I, too, did a very stupid thing. Last week, I deleted my entire usr folder...it was in my home folder and I thought it was junk. I know this isn't an excuse, but I am an Apple newbie...so I'm not too familiar with the in's and out's of this machine (or computers in general). I'm essentially a 'check email and download music' kind of guy.

Anyway, getting back to the previous posts...since I've deleted the usr folder, when I start the machine, it doesn't go past the gray Apple icon with the spinning gear. I have the OS-X discs, and the only thing I had on my machine was a few hundred iTunes, which I had previously backed up. So, in short, I don't care about losing what was on that machine.

My problem is, how do I commence the installation? When I insert disc one (while it's at the gray screen), nothing happens...in fact, the eject button doesn't even work (I have to force another shutdown, and hold the track button during a startup for it to eject). Starting the machine with the disk in the drive doesn't work either.

I'm at a loss here...any assistance would be greatly appreciated at this point.
