Our school cannot get our new 10.5 Intel Macs to bind correctly to our 2003 server. They bind but we cannot get the users folder to mount anywhere. We were wondering if we can downgrade these machines to 10.4 where binding to the 2003 server works fine.

2019 iMac 27"; 2020 M1 MacBook Air; macOS up-to-date... always.
10.4 wasn't commercially available for Intel Macs since the first Intel Macs all shipped with 10.4 since that was the current version of OS X at the time. So... unfortunately I don't believe you can.

That said... I'm sure there must be a solution to your problem. I seriously doubt 10.5 simply is incapable of working as needed with your server.

I don't see why 10.4 wouldn't work, but first you should run system update. The last time I had a problem with a computer running Leopard, that's all it needed.
