Hey everyone. I've heard that macs take a long time to start up. Like atleast 2 minutes... Is this true? My friend turned on a old iMac 1.25Ghz and said it was slow starting up. And others on the net have been saying this. Can some one do me a uick favour and tell em the spedcs of their machine, and time how long it starts up? Or if so, why does it take long?

Thanks in advance :)

My powerbook starts up in about 45 seconds

I have seen reports that the new iMacs boot up before you are even comfortable in your chair

2 3Ghz processors don't equal 6Ghz... they run better than 1 3Ghz processor, but they don't double the operating speed...

Mac OSX is designed to be 'sleepable', so most user just 'sleep' their mac and then you can wake it up instantly again...

I wonder why my g4 cube starts up relatively fast compared to you others going by processor speed, mines only 450 mhz, I do optimize my drive about once a month and repair permissions about once a month, and dont toss a lot of junk on my mac that I download, like 3rd party apps and such. and I run cron scripts when needed.

In my case trpnmonkey41 is right, it boots quicker than I can be ready to use it. It's so fast I have to wait a while for my modem to realise stuff is happening, otherwise I can't connect. :D
