G4 won't sleep

hey everyone,

i recently re-installed OS 10.4 and now my machine won't sleep. my monitor and ext HD will "sleep" but the computer won't. any ideas? thanks.

What are your Sys Pref > Energy Saver > Sleep settings?

see attached.

Uncheck that 'Put the hard disks to sleep when possible', see what happens; and then try two different time settings for computer and display eg. 30 mins for computer, 15 mins for display (it's the latter that uses more power).

Also PCI cards such as USB 2 will prevent onset of sleep in some models.

i dont have a USB PCI card so that can't be it. I'm wondering if it could be the ext hd? it didnt start doing this until after i bought it. i reset my energy saver prefs like you said before, no dice. it seems like it wants to sleep, it just doesnt make it all the way. maybe i'll disconnect the ext hd and see if it sleeps then. thanks for the help guys (and gals if there are any):Oops: .
