So i have decided to wipe my drive clean because I just purchased Pro Tools LE and have been running into issues with it quitting, using too much CPU power and just crashing my computer. First of all, I have lost the startup disks and was wondering if its possible to get new ones from apple or somewhere with like proof of purchase or something like that.

Also I'm thinking, if i buy a gig of ram to up my 512mb now, would that help strictly with running Pro Tools LE and perhaps some other software like Reason 4 that my mac currently can' seem to handle?? PLEASE HELP!!!

From what I understand, you can purchase a replacement set from Apple for about $40 - give them a call.

It might - but if you want to be sure, check Activity Monitor while you're running those applications and experiencing slowness. Click the System Memory tab. If you see very little green in the pie chart, a memory upgrade should help.
