Well it happened finally. I've never dropped an expensive item so I start with Mac :(

In short my Mac took a fall out of my bookbag from about 2 feet. It was in a Neoprene case and still works :)

The bad news is the frame has separated...

see pictures here...

Is this covered under warranty (probably not) but figured I'd ask. How much am I going to shell out to put it back to normal...any ideas?

It's about 3 weeks old and I'm loving it.

I'm in Austria and will call my store and ask when I get home next week but just wondering what anybody else thought.

thanks

What happens if you try to snap it back together?

Looks like you might need the top case replacing, not sure how much it is to get replaced, but not too horrendous if you DIY.

Jeremy,

Take it to an Apple Store and ask them first. They may easily fix it for you with no or minimum charge.

You can also check out the DIY costs and also how to do it here: http://www.ifixit.com/

Maybe there are less expensive places to do this, but they do tell you how to fix it, here...
