Hey Guys,

I have a strange one that I am hoping you may be able to help me with.

I have a car-USB charger which is basically a device that plugs into your car's cigarette socket and has a USB socket on the back to allow you to plug devices that charge on USB. I used it to power my Palm and HTC in the car.

Strange thing is... it will not power the iPhone. It works just like a normal USB port as far as I know. Anyone else have this issue??

Its annoying because now I need to buy a car charger.

Cheers

I don't know what your problem is, but make sure you buy a worthy car charger. There have many instances where the iPhones were "overcharged" and were fried.

I usually thought that was dependent on voltage. I could be wrong though.

Well I thought so. USB is 5.25V so I don't know why it does not work.

The output of the supplied AC adapter is in fact 5V.. so it has me buggered!!

Hmm... iPhone seem to be funny about these things. I can use my iPod cable to charge and sync on my laptop, but use an ipod mains adaptor.
