I have a Firewire HD that I cannot repair with Tiger. I tried and I get:

Checking Extents Overflow file.
Checking Catalog file.
Checking Catalog hierarchy.
Checking volume bitmap.
Volume Bit Map needs minor repair
Checking volume information.

The volume BackUp could not be repaired after 3 attempts.

Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit

Now, there is no data on the disk. I have backed up all data so my problem is NOT to recover anything using Disk Warrior or any other software.
I did Disk Warrior but it cannot do anything.
I did Drive Genius and it didn't fix my problem either.
I erased the volume, repartitioned, zeroed the drive...everything I could think of!
Still the same problem!
Basically it shows a numbers of blocks (or sectors, at this point I cannot remember) and says that it doesn't match and it should be that many!!
Any way to repair that "minor" (it's Tiger that says it, not me! lol) problem?
Any software that would do the trick!?
See I am in Brazil in a very small town and it's not like if I could get to Frye's, Comp'USA or any other US store and buy a new drive!!! It's the only external drive I have!
Any advice/help much appreciated!
Thx

From what you've posted, you've tried about everything you can, and it seems the Ext HD has failed. The word 'minor' could be just about anything, and I wish I could tell you what the blocks/sectors issue means, but all the repair reports indicate that the drive cannot be repaired. If Disk Warrior can't do it, I doubt any other repair utility can. Not good news I'm afraid and I can only wish you luck in finding a replacement drive.

Don't know if this will work but try:
Open Terminal
cd /Volumes/nameofdrive
fsck -fy
Do it until there are no errors.
I read man fsck and there wasn't a way to specify a drive, so cd'ing to the drive might work.
