when try to do a software update, it asks me for the administrators name (my name) and password. So i enter them in and i can guarantee they are correct since i tried logging in with the same password and i worked.

when i click enter i always get this message:

"you must type and administrators name and password to make changes"

But i just did that correctly!? Everything's entered correctly because if i purposely type something wrong then it gives me:

"sorry you entered an invalid username or password"

what's going on!!?

Try creating a new user account with admin rights and using that - any different?
