No more PC for me!
I've had enough, and that's before I've even been forced to use Vista.

So a Mac Pro is the order of the day, but I need some help please. I have been told not to get caught up on the specs, but its going to take a while to shake the shackles of Windoze.

My main concern is the video card. I'm Nvidia based and know that the 8800 is an old card, but do I need to worry? Not thinking of playing games, just work stuff like PS, DW and the like with a 30" Oh, and Parallels as I still will have to use AutoCAD.

Thanks,
Simon.

edgley,

The 8800 is still a great card and will display everything you need and at pretty high resolutions. It sounds like you want a 9800 or a GTX 280...

Enjoy your Pro and the 8800. I have a PC with an 8800GTS and I'm tickled pink with it! Wish my Macbook had one :)

I think you'll be fine with the 8800. I have an 8800GT in my gaming box, and I've yet to find anything I can throw at it that it doesn't handle with aplomb. Great card.

BTW, hope you don't mind the thread title edit - didn't want people to get the wrong idea!

"Good bye cruel world... I'm leaving you today. There's nothing you can say.... to make me change my mind... goodbye!"

(Pink Floyd lyrics, for those of you that don't know) :D

I was lucky to see them all play at Live8 the other year; I can die happy.

i'm still deciding on final specs for my new macpro. Mainly PS work for me, i was wondering if the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT 256MB that comes standard is sufficient for files of about 2GB.

On a previous post someone mentioned the 8800 was overkill until PS4 comes into effect.
