I have an iTrip FM transmitter that I want to bring with me when I move to Germany next month...will I be able to use it with german radio signal or will I have to buy a new one? Anyone know?

Also...if I buy a new one does anyone know in which countries it will work?

Last I checked, radio signals were univeral. Unless, of course, Europe invented some new radio spectrum that we here in the US haven't gotten yet ;D

In Europe all frequencies end in even numbers (92.6) In the US in odd numbers (92.5). So US transmitters do not work in Europe, and vice-versa.

Oh, and it is illegal (to have a radio-station without a license)

Actually, if he has the same iTrip I have (the black one with the car charger), then he should be able to use it in Europe as it offers both even and odd numbers.

I have the old-school one where you have to change stations by loading those beep codes on your iPod to change frequencies. It only offers odd numbers.

Oh man, I remember that iTrip, had one myself. Now that I look back at it, it was rather annoying to change stations when nowadays all you have to do is press a couple of buttons.

It may work, but you would be better off buying a new one if yours is really old,
as to the legality, they sell them in 'media markt' the biggest electronics dealer over here.

where in Germany you headed? its an awesome place to live!
