Midi/audio interface

Could anyone recommend a good audio interface for recording? I currently have a Firewire solo and cant get the levels set correctly and the sound quality I am looking for is just not there.

I play through a Boss GT6 directly into interface.

I have a alesis multimix, audiophile 192, and a FMR audio RNP. I'm not a guitarist, but my cousin came by with his guitar, we set it up and the levels were pretty smooth not to mention tweakable

word of advice don't get the audiophile 192 as it is incompatible with the mac
