locking folders??

is it possibe to password protect/lock folders on my computer?

It's a much better idea to log out of your computer altogether. Locking a single folder is like giving someone you don't trust the keys to your car, but keeping the registration and insurance. It's only safe if they're not serious.

I find that the equivalent to a password protected folder for OS X is creating an image file through Disk Utility. Set encryption on it allows you to set a password. You can also set the maximum file size that you want the image to allow. Here is Apple's guide on how to achieve this:
