Does anyone know if it is possiable to take RAM from an iBook and add it to the expansion slot in an iMac? The RAM in the iBook is the original chip that was shipped with the computer (256MB).

I'm not really sure, are you sure it's not a G4 800 iMac? I didn't know they even made a G3 800.

OK, You're right, my mistake! I had to go check and am now sure the iMac is 700MHz Power PC G4. Just to Re-cap the iBook: 256MB SDRAM 700MHz G3.

I think it would work.

sorry to sound like an arse but nope it won't work

The memory in all laptops (not just macs) is an SO-DIMM which is a smaller stick than a regular DIMM which is used in a desktop pc. So, no, you cant swap the ram just go to www.newegg.com and pick up the ram you need for cheap
