I'm stuck between the 15" and 17" models both with 8600GT 512mb... my question is... does the 17" models higher resolution downplay the fact that its 8600 runs at higher clocks?

which will get better FPS
the 15" 512mb 8600m at 1440x900
or
the 17" 512 8600m at 1680x1050

that and is the performance difference using the LED High Res screen on the 17" negligible? Cause i would like the LED for powersaving and from what i hear its gorgeous but the 1900x1200 seems like it would make things a little hard to see.... Do you lose much performance in games?

With any of the two screens on the 17'' model, you will see better performance (and higher fps) from the 15'' model...

Why?

The 15'' models are downclocked a little to try and reduce heat in the smaller case...

So if you are leaning towards the 15'' because you think it will preform better... It is actually the opposite.

Thanks cause I did know that the 15" was clocked lower but i wasnt for sure if the resolution would have effected the 17"s performance

Not that it will be a terribly noticeable difference.
