Hi,

I recently purchased a Mini DVI to Video Adapter for my iMac. However when I plug it in all it does is change the screen resolution to PAL. However the monitor remains at the standard OS X desktop. How do I start the adapter so that the monitor actually shows what is being inputted into the adapter? Or is this supposed to happen automatically?

Thanks

It does that when you insert the adapter by itself, or is there something plugged into the adapter (like a TV)?

It's probably scaling down to the lowest common denominator resolution for a composite source.

perhaps, but I the RCA cable is coming from a video source. Why isn't the monitor displaying them?

I'm not sure, did you check the monitor settings in System Preferences => Displays?
