Video converter for iPhone

Looking for a easy fast and free video converter for use on iPhone, curently using iSquint but it is slow. takes pretty much same time to convert as it takes to watch it. it has to be something that can do the job faster?

ISquint is normal pretty quick to be honest. Though it depends what format your source video is in.

You could try ffmpegx to compare the two.

The speed of encoding is down to your machine, eg on my G4 it is slow, but an intel mac should be able to convert video fairly swiftly

Pardon the newbie question here, but what exactly is the need of a video converter for the iPhone? Pretty much all of my Podcast videos have transfered fine. Is this primarily for if you want encode and transfer other clips and/or movies?

a podcast video, as its name suggests is already encoded in the right aspect and codec for ipods

But if you have an mpeg or avi that has not been encoded with the ipod in mind, it will need to be re-encoded in an ipod friendly mp4 codec and resolution

On my mac I usualy use Macvide iPod Converter.

On My mac, My favorite program is Handbrake

I use Handbrake to convert DVD´s (Guide: http://www.all-about-apple.com/dvd-to-iphone.html ). I dont think you can speed it up so much, that depends on your computer hardware.

As for converting videos i went the easy way and bought VisualHub, http://www.techspansion.com/visualhub/

Yeah. iSquint is actually pretty fast. Video decoding and encoding are not quick or easy tasks. Ffmpegx uses the same encoder anyway (ffmpeg), so it shouldn't make much difference, if any.

Handbrake by far blows iSquint out of the water.
