Random totally non-mac question: I'm looking at accommodation for a trip to NYC, and was wondering if Greenwich Village is a safe area to live for a few weeks?

Greenwich Village is a fantastic place to live, with a lot of local NYU college students roaming about. However, it's also quite expensive.
