Using Recovery Discs

I've lost all my midi controls and now the sound is just miserable. No volume and quite distorted. How do I use the recovery disc without losing any of the stuff I have on the computer? ITunes, photo etc.

what version of 10.3 are you running

you might just try running the combo update

try that first even if you already have 10.3.9
