Ringer not loud enough?

I am very disappointed with the selection of ringers for the phone. Most of them are outright annoying. I had my volume set to max, and could not hear my ringer while walking downtown with average 3rd party noise. This is very frustrating.

Open garage band, make your own ringtones and crank up the volume there.

What file format do they need to be in for Itunes to accept it as a ringtone?

The file format should be .m4r
