USB stopped working

just got a new macbook less then a month ago installed new updates on the 5th of july and now i chat and the usb ports don't work any one have any ideas i'm new to the mac world need help thanks

Download and run the maintenance and permissions scripts with this program, Mainmenu: http://www.santasw.com/ If you run it every day or two, it will keep your machine and OS X running smoothly. I hope it helps your USB problem, but if it doesn't, let us know. Someone will have another answer.
