looking to upgrade my Tangerine Ibook with this HD Western Digital Scorpio 80GB 2.5" Mobile Hard Drive - EIDE, 5400, 8MB, OEM
and this Ram 512MB PC100 CL2 2-2-2 LowProfile 1.25 inch(non-stacked)2-2-2 So-DIMM for iBook G3 Models; PowerBook G4 400,500MHz (Top/Bottom Slot compatible). LifeTime Warranty! (OWC100SO512328L)
any opinions plz.

I'm assuming your processor speed is 300MHz? To be completely honest with you, I believe you're wasting your time and money. You know how painfully slow that laptop surfs the web. Sell that laptop on ebay for $100, and use the rest of the money you were going to spend on the hard drive and RAM on a G4 Powerbook.

I have a Clamshell that I'm fixing (my daughter's old one) and I persuaded her to try a 400mhz Pismo, which imo is running faster than the Clamshell. I agree with 'xj6...' you could sell that Clamshell and use funds to purchase something better.

Eep even a 400MHz Pismo is a bit slow.

I'm simply pointing out that putting money into a Clamshell isn't sound financial advice. I'm not advocating selling a Clamshell to buy a Pismo, just to use the funds to get something better than a souped up Clamshell.
