iMac 24" slow boot

Hello,
My iMac is taking ages to start up!?
I switch it on and it goes to a light blue screen and sits there for approx. 10mins before loading up my screen......any ideas?

Don't get me wrong...it didn't used to! It's only just started to do it and it's concerning me.
