• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I also understand that you can run them independently, but again, you need to have Leopard with iLife 08 bundled (not the off-the-shelf purchased software) in order to download and run iMovie HD/6. I'm looking at doing that myself; I don't mind iMovie 08, but I have surmised, from numerous posts, that editing commercials and adding fade in's/fade out's to TV shows that I import with eyeTV is FAR easier with iMovie HD.

Cheers!

Did you read that on the Apple site somewhere. As far as I can recall, you simply need iLife 08 installed to install the older iMovie HD.

It should not delete the newer version, but instead create a "iMovie HD.app" file name. The iMovie 08 app is simply named iMovie.app. Also note that the version you should be downloading of iMovie HD is 6.0.4.
