rookies,

Lots of recovery software out there ranging from free to quite expensive. Here's a page I found through Google that runs from $79 to $450... http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/downloads/mac_recovery_software/

Check them all out. Maybe one of the free ones will work for you. Otherwise, maybe more Googling will get you a goodie. Something should work!

rookies,

Sorry, I've never had the misfortune to need one. But I'm still searching for a good option. If I find a good one, I'll let you know.

Just some food for thought, to prevent it happening again... I use 2 externals for backup, one with SuperDuper and the other with Time Machine. If you ever upgrade your internal hard drive, buy an enclosure for it and use it as a second external.

Noel

EDIT: Here are some more free ones:http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/collection/collid,1295-order,1-c,downloads/files.html
