As the title suggests - I have strange things happening on my Macbook

1. On the XP side of my laptop - connects fine to my wireless network
2. My iMac - connects fine to my wireless network
3. When in Mac mode, my Macbook will connect to a network that is unsecured and nearby
4. BUT when in Mac mode, my Macbook will NOT connect to my wireless network

Last week it was fine - I had that intermittent drop out problem ages ago that somehow fixed itself but at least then it would connect and recognise my network... now all I get is 'Operation timed out'

I did a software update, nothing there to update.

The only thing different is it went in to Apple get its case replace as it developed the Macbook cracking problem and has come back and it is like this - but again, the weird thing is this is only happening on the Mac side and my iMac connects fine.

Can anyone offer any suggestion of what the issue may be?

Thanks a bunch in advance - this is driving me nutty!!

Very odd. Can you tell me what make and model your wireless router is?

I have a Airport express. I have done a hard and soft reset on that too.

*twilight zone music*

Very strange indeed.

If I get the chance I will give Applecare a call in the morning - if they fix it, I will let you all know what the problem was!

I couldn't stand using the XP side any longer tonight! LOL

I accidently posted it in the Leopard forum and unfortunately couldn't delete it, but I deleted the text of it.

So sorry - and not negative at all. It is late here and my brain is lagging badly due to being consumed by this internet issue all day LOL

I just realised you may be posting about the 'airport problems' thread.

DIfference with mine is that my iMac is still connection with no hassles - so I can't see it being a problem with my airport?

By XP side of your laptop, I'm assuming you are running in Bootcamp, so the OS is controlling the airport card directly?

If this is the case, then you've probably just got a minor configuration issue going on. When you are running in OS-X, if you connect to the router via Ethernet cable, are you able to get to the Internet?

Here's another question for you: Can you copy the ifconfig results from OS-X, and the ipconfig /all results from XP into a reply so we can see what is happening?

1. Yep - running bootcamp

2. All fine when connected via ethernet - nice and speedy - no issues

3. ifconfig below - (will be back to post the ipconfig results)

Ok even stranger - on the XP side, internet wouldn't work with the ethernet in, but no issues when I pulled it the cable out and put it in the airport!

Anyway here is a touch type rehash of the ipconfig (except for the bluetooth settings)

host name : jenellexp
primary dns suffix :
node type : unknown
IP routing enabled - yes
wins proxy enabled: no
DNS suffix search list : vic.bigpond.net.au

ethernet adaptor local area connection -

physical address - 00-19-E3-34-5DF5
DHCP enabled - No
IP - 192.168.0.1
Subnet - 255.255.255.0

ethernet adaptor wireless network connection-

connection specific DNS suffic - vic.bigpond.net.au
description - etc
physical address: 00-19-E3-08-C1-DA
DHCP - yes
Auto config - yes
IP - 10.0.1.2
subnet - 255.255.255.1
Default 10.0.1.1
DHCP server 10.0.1.1
DNS 10.0.1.1
