mac server X leopard loading problem

ok bare with me as im a noob when it comes to macs
im an i.t tech in a school and the other day there was a powercut to the school and the mac server got cut off, now after a while it starts to beep repetitiously , then when trying to start up it produced the folder with the "?" mark blinking in the middle- i then decided to put the leopard disk in the drive and boot from that to run the disk utilites to try and fix any issues, but when it trys to load the disk the little mac logo in the middle of the display dissapears and is replaced with a stop sign... im a lil lost as to what my next move is - the server has only recently been installed and the drives are set up with raid

to update:

ok on further development i found out how to reset the NVRAM once i did this i was then able to get into the leopard dvd to access the disk utility to run a repair permitions on the volume and then repair the disk, after both were done i choose from the finder menu disk loader or something similarly named and i was able to choose the volume to load on a restart- i choose the harddrive where leopard is installed and then rebooted - this then started up as the machine should and i was able to login etc- although the alarm beep was still going!?

i then decided to do a reboot which loaded leopard back up again with the beep still going again, i then choose to do a full shut down and then manually turned the server on- now its back to square one- it dosnt appear to see the hardrives when loading as the status lights dont light up and then again the only way to get into the disk manager to choose the drive is to reset the NVRAM again.

im lost what to do still

Is it a Mac Pro or an XServe?

If you remove the RAM and the RAID card, then put just one pair of DIMMS in then try to boot the machine with the CD via the boot with option held method what happens?

Is the beep a series of beeps or just a constant beep.

If it's a new xserve, have you configured the ILO port?

Do you have server admin tools loaded on another Mac?

IMO it sounds like the RAID has flaked out.

Did you purchase Apple Care?

firstly its an xserve and the sound is a long beep followed by a seconds break over and over again but only when its booted to the harddrives iirc
the server is quite new and was only setup by a mac specialist 3rd party company before i took over the job- regarding the ILO port i havnt personally configured it, whats the benifits of doing that?
when you say remove the raid and ram - should i reseat them before booting up again or boot with out them connected? cheers
