Converting MP3 to playable Audio CD format ? How ?

A real Newbie question (sorry)

On OS X 10.4 I'm trying to make a playable Cd to run on my ancient CD player using 'Burn'.

Well it refuses to do it. So do I need to change the MP3 format of the audio files format ?

What is the favourite conversion program to download to do that ?

Any thoughts very welcome !

i've never used burn, but i know you can use itunes to burn audio cd's. are your songs imported into itunes? if so, you can just create a new playlist and burn it through there..

Hi, I've never had a problem using Burn to make audio CDs in 10.4 on an iBook G3. I assume you have a CD burning capable drive?

What error messages are you getting?

Just select 'Audio' from the options at the top of the window and drag your mp3 files into it, then click on 'Burn'. It should automatically convert to the right format.

Hi Hugh,

I swore blind that it had worked for me OK before ! But not this time.

I popped a bunch of MP3 files on and clicked 'burn'. It went darl for hald a second then went to its dormany colour. Weird.

Are there any settings I need to adjust ? Should I un-install it and them reinstall it ?

Many thanks for the responses. (Never used iTunes as I'm into directories of MP3s not playlists - don't know why they are supposed to be useful ? )

Create a playlist in iTunes and burn straighht from there

You can set *** itunes burns in the preferences, either an Audio CD or an MP3 CD depending on what your CD player supports

Many thanks for the iTunes tip but not really confident in the 'Playlist' thing. Always regarded it as a hazzard and iTunes incomprehensible. Very happy with Audio players that just grab a directory and play them. Simple and easy.

Maintaining a HUGE library is very very easy, across various platforms. (PC/Linux/Mac) One wopping great set of nested directories. Took 1000s of hours to put together and nothing going to start messing with it !

The problem is solved and it took me by surprise !

I downloaded 'Express Burn' for the Pc and the Mac. The Mac one didn't work but the PC one only downloaded non corrupt MP3 files ! ERGo there were corrupt files and 'Burn' did not flag corrupt files and just gave up with no messages !

Phew !
